The Southold Town Memorial Day parade in Greenport has been cancelled, according to Southold Town police.
Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are forecast for Monday, prompting Town Supervisor Scott Russell to cancel the parade, which was originally scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
The Orient Fire Department also announced Saturday that its annual parade would not take place.
The annual dockside ceremony in Greenport will also not continue as planned.
Rain is likely before 6 a.m. and is expected to continue into the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service in Upton, which issued a hazardous weather advisory. Flash flooding is possible, the NWS reported.
